Re: Sailing to me is Tourism!

Mark is right for him. Good.

I would give a different answer in each stage of life. Race beach cats. Adventure sailing. Tourism. Rat race get away. Family cruising. Solo daysailing. An afternoon with friends.

It depends on what you want to get out of it, and for me, that changes.

I would give a different answer for each place I am cruising in. Our most "tourism" has been sailing in the US East Coast (we are US East Coast citizens), while our most building relationships and "living" has been the Bahamas, Guatemala, and San Blas Panama - still involved with people's lives there.

No doubt, England and France would be tourism places for us if we cruised there - way too much history and culture to pass up. For some reason, the places where sights, opportunities, access, and communications are easy, we are more tourists. The places were we have to really work to assimilate and connect lead us to become less touristy and look deeper into the culture and place more.

Meeting French girls is not working to assimilate and connect...

Re: Sailing to me is Tourism!

We had a lovely afternoon sail to nowhere. A lot of effort actually... not the actual sailing... Conversation was delightful. Speedo is not working.. fouled???? and so it goes.

pay attention... someone's life depends on it
