Cheers, Christian. Thank you for the respite of sailing aboard, in these times. Supernaturally healthy, amen. Hopefully, the self-righteous will leave this thread alone. Stay healthy.

Jeanneau 54DS

In the harsh marine environment, something is always in need of repair. Margaritas fix everything.

Sander,

I switched from an ERicson 32-3 to Ericson 381 a couple of years ago.

pay attention... someone's life depends on it

No judgement here. Good to see you out sailing. I'm going to vote after work tonight, here in Wisconsin. Will probably get the virus and spread it to a few others. Yea, democracy.

Good job on the vid. I didn't know you were even on this site. I had a boat up in Humboldt Bay circa 2010 and one in St. Thomas while living part of the time in Maine. Now stuck in Maine, working on a Tartan 37, paying rent in St. Thomas, ain't been to CA in several years, wondering WTF is going to happen. Need to sail. Need to kill wahoo, mahi and tuna.

Re: Thelonious II, Last Sail for the Duration

What are the main benefits? ( from 32 feet to 38 feet, same class)

The main benefit is a somewhat more stately progress through offshore seas. Comes at the cost of dinghy-like quality of smaller, lighter boats, which I miss. Smaller always better. It is true that two more people fit comfortably in the cockpit, and belowdecks has a few extra square feet, mostly because of increased beam.

The Ericson mid-80s models are much the same--lots of teak below, very similar lines. Folks who came aboard the 38 after sailing on the 32 often say, "Hey, I thought you said you got a new boat." They can;t tell the difference.
