Aside from the hull survey and rigging inspection be sure the engine mechanic includes a compression test.
A great boat.

Re: up grade

I'm a fan, one of the best built production boats ever, but ..... most had solid core copper wiring, the AC ground and DC negative were not bonded. The Propane locker drains were t['d into the cockpit drains, No GFCI's .

Take a look at Marine Survey 101 it will help show you how to inspect the boat.

The hysterical laughter you hear as you drive a way in your"new" boat ..... is the seller.

Re: up grade

A great fast boat! Iv'e raced CS 30 and won the class almost in every race in New England.
Things to look at, in addition to the engine:
- Standing rigging, blocks
- Railing hardware and connections to the deck have issues - look for interior leaks at these areas
- Plumbing and pumps
As with any boat - a good overall maintained boat, where you can meet and talk with the owner, not just the broker, is easier to survey and reveal any issue. A poorly maintained boat will surprise you with issues forever....

Good luck!
