Gap year adventure

This summer myself and a friend are hoping to take a dinghy (such as a wayfarer) and sail down a river for a month or so, we live in the UK but we are open to any suggestions for destinations world wide. however we are finding it hard to get information about the suitability of rivers for dinghy sailing and so we have turned to the experts for help. Any advice on boat choice, river choice or how to plan the trip would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Gap year adventure

Have a look at the Lough Erne/Shannon waterway

IWAI - The Shannon and Erne Waterways

Most of this is sailable with some short section doable with a small outboard or oars. The canal connection to Dublin would be all under power.
