Air intake on Westerbeke 13?
Ok, this is embarrassing, but I'm at a loss and will put up with a little shame in order to find out. This is my first diesel, but have time on gasoline engines. I've looked over the engine repeatedly. I checked the manual over and over and there's no mention of an air filter (or an air intake for that matter). I've searched all over the internet, but I can't get an answer. Nigel Calder shows two types of air filters and they both require maintenance (paper and oil-bath).

Does anyone know where the air intake is on this engine?

My guess is it'll be hiding under the heat exchanger reservoir, far side.

Thanks Faster, I'll take a look this weekend.

Hi @Tanley ,

Sorry to resuscitate a 9 years old post, but did you find the air intake? This is not my first diesel, but couldn't find it at first sight.

Is she a Cal28?

Re: Air intake on Westerbeke 13?
Yes, it's located under the coolant reservoir but there's no filter element. There's just a "silencer". Hard to believe the engine doesn't starve for air with how it's engineered. You can't get to it w/o taking that tank off.

You can see it in the diagram shown here on page 230 - Item 31
