Question Blue Blades for AirX or Air Breeze

Has anybody experience with using these expensive blades on their wind gen? The company represents that it reduces noise by 70% (and has a video to demonstrate it). But before I plunk down some big money for them I just wanted to check in on other's experience.

The stock blades are so noisy we never turn the gen on when we are on the boat, just when we leave it and can "entertain" our neighbors.

Thank you in advance.

Re: Blue Blades for AirX or Air Breeze

While I don't have personal experience with it, our friends that we cruised with for 2 years throughout the Caribe put them on their AirX and the difference was night and day compared to the original blades. My indirect experience was being someone regularly anchored near them and listening to their windgen for 2 years. The original blades were banshees screaming in the wind and the blue blades were dead silent.

Our friends thought the blades were well worth the cost, and we thought the blades were worth 10x as much…

Re: Blue Blades for AirX or Air Breeze

I guess I’ll say again for the benefit of others who might read this:

I own a Spreco Silentwind generator which uses the blue blades. Spreco originally made just the blades, but branched out into the full package a number of years ago.

My generator is not “silent,” but it’s pretty darn quiet. I attribute most of this to the blades.

Why go fast, when you can go slow.

they make a big difference on the air x...very big. I changed my air breeze to the blue blades and it was a minor improvement. not sure it was worth the money

Re: Blue Blades for AirX or Air Breeze

it appears that nothing is as simple as it first appears. My air generator is an old Air 303 which, I'm told, does not have internal speed control. The Blue Blade folks say that I would be unwise to use their blades as the original blades were designed to vibrate (thus be noisy) at high speed and thereby slow down the generator. So, I'm back getting the original AirX blades, although it was suggested that the AirBreeze blades would work and be slightly less noisy but at some loss of output.

And so it goes.
