My next project . . .

Now that I have sorted all the strange plumbing issues out this is the next project on my list. Sigh.

Wish me luck. [emoji6]

Re: My next project . . .

Although that looks daunting, I've seen MUCH worse in older boats with several PO's. Yours isn't so bad - you'll have that straightened out in no time.

That red-to-yellow wire solder joint is one for the humor file...

I don't see any corrosion, broken wires, burn marks, etc. If things work, great, if not , follow the wires.

Re: My next project . . .

Yep, PO went crazy using yellow (ABYC negative) for the whole positive buss. I think I will just mount a terminal block on the back wall and live with the erroneous yellow.

Colemji, well spotted That one piqued my interest and laughter as well.

Cheers,
Keth

Re: My next project . . .

The tape probably fell off. My Dad was a WWII Wire Chief and would Figure 8 that before soldering and wrapping with Bulldog Rubber Tape and then brush on some Fixer (cold vulcanize solution) while I use Marine Shrink Wrap instead of the Bulldog. He ran a lot of underwater, underground and overhead cable all over the South Pacific and never had a Figure 8 fail with or without the solder since the harder its pulled the tighter the splice gets. On stranded wire the Figure 8 holds better than the Western Union though some find it more difficult to make.

I still have his original TE-33 Kit with the TL-29 and TL-13 in the CS-34 belt pouch which was with him when he hit the beach by himself days to months before the Marines so he could run wires for their field phones and provide other Specialist Assistance as the Jungle Raider from the Headquarters Co 3d Bat of the 182d Americal so it saw the entire Solomon Islands campaign and was there at Guadalcanal. Jobs just seem to go better when I use his kit.

Watch out for that bundle of white and yellow taped together in the center back.

The original boat wiring was red but the previous owner must have found a spool of yellow on sale.

Re: My next project . . .

These rewiring projects of the nav station can be a real pain in the butt. I added equipment, and busses and so on and it's definitely an improvement... but it's hardly super organized.

This was done 12 years ago in winter wet storage. After pic work was not entirely completed.

There's more in there now!
