Wanted: Datamarine depth sounder display

Hi all, I'm looking for a replacement Datamarine s200dl display. Mine is displaying screwy—some of the 'bars' in the LCD are always lit up creating some interesting and yet not-so-informative Russian Cryillic-looking characters inbetween actual depth readings. The transducer is working fine. I'd like to either

A. Replace with a working version of the same unit as this one has served for decades which leads me to believe it will serve for even longer. Even if your old unit requires polarized sunglasses to see (worn out polarizing strip), I can work with it.

B. Get a new compatible display. The manual states that the transducer is a 210 Khz and it has an RCA style connector so perhaps a new display will work but I don't know what unit would be compatible.

I'm not looking to send my unit to DMI to refurbish it as I am in Honduras currently and it will cost a great deal to do a round trip shipment. One way down here from the US will work, however.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Re: Wanted: Datamarine depth sounder display

My Datamarine depth started acting weird last summer. Sometimes reading fine, sometimes crazy numbers, sometimes giving an error message. I suspected the transducer. DMI had replacements, but pricy and would require a haul. I bought and inexpensive powerboat unit with a glue-in transducer and a small round display. Replacing the transducer fixed the problem. It works so well, I am not bothering to replace the old thru hull transducer. If that hadn't worked I was going to install the small powerboat display in the old Datamarine housing, essentially giving me a whole new system for under $100.
