Mounting & Waterproofing Ipad

I finally caved and ordered a refurbished 1st gen iPad 32GB w/ 3G. I would like to use it on the boat this summer without dropping it into Lake Michigan or frying it when it gets splashed.

There seem to be a lot of cases for iPads, but only a couple that claim to be waterproof. Otterbox doesn't even seem to make a waterproof iPad case.

This case and mount system seems pretty cool: Tablet on the Wall - RingO®
but I can't find anywhere to buy it and it isn't waterproof. The Flex Mount would fit on the swing arm by my nav station, though.

Does anyone else have suggestions for keeping my new toy dry and accessible?

ive had good luck with 'ram mounts' for gps and they do make one speced to the ipad:
Apple iPad Mount, iPhone Mount & iPod Mount

for the waterproofing, i just googled it and a bunch of options popped up.
good luck

"waterproof ipad case" turns up plenty of hits. The EWA-Marine type cases, a big vinyl pouch with a clamp at the opening end, have been keeping all sorts of gear bone dry for 40? years now. they won't stop it from being dropped, but they should give it enough bouyancy to go, ah, bobbing for Apples if you do.

I have no actual experience with this stuff, but it might fit the bill.

Recently I discovered the crucial difference between 1) waterproof and 2) floating and waterproof, when I dropped my handheld VHF overboard.

Waterproof alone is no use for an expensive portable device. It needs to float.

Oh dear! :(

I nearly had a similar problem myself, so have been on a bit of a google mission. There is a new case called 'Lifedge' which is meant to be waterproof, shockproof and says it floats. Got to be worth a look!
