New Hatch Lenses in Texas

I got new hatch lenses cut and they are completely unusable. The person doing the cutting was clearly drunk/stoned/asleep/dead.

I need to try a second shop. Has anyone had this done in Huston or Austin and been happy with the work? I want to try another shop, but don't want to get burned again. Seems like it should not be that hard....

Just an option, I realize it isn't exactly what you're looking for but they have a very good reputation if you can swing it. Good luck.

Good idea. I will see what they charge to ship the lenses. At least i know it would be done right

Re: New Hatch Lenses in Texas

I second the recommendation of Select Plastics. Last year I had them replace the lenses on my PSC 37 Bomar hatches, which leaked. Very nice job and easy to work with. The hatches now look new.

Free monomers, man. Guy's been breathing them all day. It's like huffing AquaNet.

Re: New Hatch Lenses in Texas

Have you taken them back, perhaps with a frame so he can see how they will not work? I would give him a chance to make it good. If that does not work out then look elsewhere.

Re: New Hatch Lenses in Texas

Just heard from Select Plastics, they will not sell me lenses. They will only do complete hatch restorations. Kind of strange a place called Select Plastics will not sell me plastic......

That's because there is more to replacing the lights than "gluing" them in.

If you want them to leak, DIY. If you want them watertight, send them to Select Plastics.
