Yay! It's electronics day. Who wants to help me learn my system?

I figured I should go through and learn one device at a time. I'm starting with the chartplotter. I was hoping for help on learning what all I have and how it works together. I would like to make the most of it. So I guess I could start by listing what I have to give you an overall picture of what they designer was going for. Then we can learn how it all works together.

To start there is an nmea 2000 backbone
The main device is a lowrance hds 5m gen 2

The lowrance has a device list that includes
Garmin GPS17x - a receiver dome
Maretron acm100 - alternating current monitor
Actisence ngt-1 - n2k to PC interface
Maretron tlm150 - gasoline monitor
Maretron tlm100 - also on the gas tank.
Not shown on the chartplotter is a maretron tlm100. Not sure yet why I have two tank monitors.

Beyond the lowrance plotter is a:
Lowrance elite 4xdsi - sonar
Bluesea 8248 dc multimeter
Hawkeye - that seems so far to only tell the water and air temperature
Raymarine st2000+
Standard Horizon gx2150+ - vhf/ais receiver
Ram mic that has mini ais map
Seasmart wifi gateway

Beyond that maybe some hidden stuff I have yet to discover. Then the batteries, switch, fuses, bilge pumps, stereo, lights, dc distribution panel, and lots of switches to turn turn things on and off

Powering my two batteries are a solar panel, charge controller, prosport 12, shore power cord and outboard alternator.

The solar panel is 18" x 18"
The outboard alternator seems to really pump juice in on those days I've had to motor for a couple hours. It will bring the dual batteries that were in the 12.6 area to well over 13.

My main questions lie in making it all work together. I've got the manuals for the main things. I'm sure I can learn how to use my chartplotter, sonar and ais but making them all work together.

Can my tillerpilot run a course on the chartplotter?
Why the heck is that maretron for?
Actisence PC interface? No clue.
Wifi gateway. Even less clue.

It would have been nice to sit down with the previous owner and get a lesson and ask questions, but he is long gone. I am getting better with tech stuff although I am not up to current.

Will this system require me to get apps or connect any of my other devices or does it all work together as is.

Thanks for your time.

Don't know all your equipment, but google is your friend
If the instruments with NMEA 2000 is connected to the NMEA 2000 backbone they should be able to share data, but the usefulness depends on the devices
If the Raymarine st2000+ is connected via NMEA 0183 to the lowrance hds 5m gen 2 it should be able to steer to a waypoint.
NMEA 0183 must be connected to a device that can bridge data to NMEA 2000, the lowrance hds 5m gen 2 can do this RTFM
http://www.lowrance.com/Root/Lowranc...0043-001_w.pdf
http://www.lowrance.com/Root/Lowranc...0041-001_w.pdf

lowrance hds 5m gen 2
- NMEA 2000, NMEA 0183 (could not find out if this is High speed or not), Ethernet
-To be able to show AIS data you need a high speed port

Garmin GPS17x - a receiver dome
- NMEA 2000

Maretron acm100 - alternating current monitor
-NMEA 2000
-Don't know why you have this..

Actisence ngt-1 - n2k to PC interface
-What version NGT-1: NMEA 2000 to PC Interface
-NMEA 2000
-Used to get data from/to the NMEA 2000 backbone to/from a PC, typically running navigation software.

Maretron tlm150 - gasoline monitor
-NMEA 2000

Lowrance elite 4xdsi - sonar
-Standalone

Bluesea 8248 dc multimeter
-Standalone

Hawkeye - that seems so far to only tell the water and air temperature
-didn't find this

Raymarine st2000+
-Seatalk (old) and NMEA 0183

Standard Horizon gx2150+ - vhf/ais receiver
Ram mic that has mini ais map
-NMEA 0183

Seasmart wifi gateway
-NMEA 2000
-Used to send NMEA 2000 data to pad's or PC or other wifi devices

What is the difference between the Actisence and the seasmart if they both send data to pc's?(and I'm hoping mac's)

So the maretron acm is so far a mystery.

Actisense = cable, you didn't tell what model
Seasmart = WIFI = wireless
The actisense might be used to configure some of the other devices.
Have you asked the PO?

The previous owner is gone.

I could swear I remember him saying something about being able to monitor the boat from his phone anywhere.

I think one of the devices is to get the information relayed to the chartplotter.

I'm hoping I can something works so that I can anchor and go to shore and see that the boat isn't dragging.
