'84 H31 Main Hatch Slide Removal

I have an '84 Hunter 31 and would like to replace the old plexi slider. It appears that it was installed before the "shroud" piece of deck that covers the halyards was installed and that it must be removed to get the plexi slider out.

I'm not real anxious to do it because it will be a pretty big job to remove it - dismount the dodger, pull the S/S guard over the cowl vents, pull the mainsheet traveler etc.

Does anyone know if that is the case and that the shroud must be removed to get the plexi out or am I missing something?

I, myself, personally intend to continue being outspoken and opinionated, intolerant of all fanatics, fools and ignoramuses, deeply suspicious of all those who have "found the answer" and on my bad days, downright rude.

I've heard it referred to as both the "seahood" and "spray hood or cover" Steve D. posted pictures of his on another forum which may be useful to get you started. I know when I did one on another boat I did need to remove the traveler, and of course I broke one of the mounting bolts on it.

Don't know about your hunter but mine comes out all by itself. Its not supposed to of course there are some stops broken off, all I need is 6 screws and the cover comes off. Easy fix at that point. Winter project #1!! Mine also goes in and under, some are on top ant there's a channel so without pics I'm not sure but if you start taking stuff off it will come to you.
