12 inch winch handle

I have done the usual Mr Google thing and come up empty other than previous threads all over the place asking the same question.

Does anyone have a supplier. **[Yes I can swing one. Not interested in any sort of power winch or power handle.] **

Re: 12 inch winch handle

Never heard of one. Even coffee grinders only have 10" handles - at least every one I've seen.

I, myself, personally intend to continue being outspoken and opinionated, intolerant of all fanatics, fools and ignoramuses, deeply suspicious of all those who have "found the answer" and on my bad days, downright rude.

Re: 12 inch winch handle

The only place that you can find them now is eBay, there are several that are 11.5" or 12" on there right now. On the Sailing Anarchy site, 12'ers were talked about, and it seems that they are not made anymore, but if you "have a guy" on the inside of a manufacturer, they might have one laying around. The discussion, and a good one was that the swinging arc was just to big to really use it effectively, and also concerns with clearance on the swinging arc. Just my .02...

I'm assuming winch handles are measured center-to-center. I wouldn't surprised if the e-bay offering is 12" overall... which is a 10" handle. But ask.

Right on, even the 12" one is 11 1/2" at best, I've seen some advertised as 12" but look at how they're measuring them.

Re: 12 inch winch handle

I have a really old one with no lock. It's a big clunky thing I keep as a spare. If you've no luck get back to me and I'll try to find it and measure it.
