Crashed

I just crashed my 420. If I post a picture, can anyone tell if I’ve damaged the hull, or just the rub rain

Post a picture and I will ask the boat builder I work with about it. He maintains a small fleet of 420's, Optimists, Lasers, Hobie Waves, Hobie GetAway's, RS16s, EScows, Montauks, SunFish, FlyingFish, S2, etc.

Yes there can be a subtle difference in the appearance of simple dock rash and hidden hull damage. We had one just come through that looked simple until we dug into it and the mat was broken up behind 1/3 of the bow and about 1/4 of the liner going down from the deck joint making for a $1,000 repair from what at the surface looked like a simple rash repair.

Re: Crashed

Not likely to be diagnosed from a pic, which would require both inside and outside, unless so obviously damaged you wouldn't be asking. Get someone local to have a look.

Jeanneau 54DS

In the harsh marine environment, something is always in need of repair. Margaritas fix everything.
