Back when Bob Carr aboard the Sirius (authentic Spray replica) saw a log drifting by in Victoria harbour he got in his dory and got it alongside. A bit of drawknife and sheerlegs of boom and gaff stepped his new mast on keel .Bob was always a loner. He was in his mid '70 and when he lost that mast ,run down by a freighter off Panama.it wasn't for lack of quality work and initiative. Messing with boats is just what some people do well
