Pendant for winter stick

In the past I have always dropped my mooring chain for the winter and recovered it in the Spring. This year I am considering using a sully stick. Do you have and recommendations for the pendant and how to affix the pendant to the sully stick to avoid chafing at the eye? Nylon line with spectra chafing gear? A cow hitch through the eye ? Am i overthinking this?

Re: Pendant for winter stick

I use light (1/4 or 5/16) chain.

Re: Pendant for winter stick

Locally (Maine) the practice is to leave the pendant shackled to the ball when it's pulled in the fall, so there's no rope pendant on the winter stick.
