I have been doing a search on mast collars.
Maybe I am not using the correct name. But I need to run lines down the mast and turn them to my cockpit. Due to the shape of my deck, I would like this collar to be around the mast but about 1 foot above the deck.
Is there a reason why every image I am seeing is always a deck mounted affair? Corrosion or something?
From a cost standpoint, one deck plate of a given size can serve many different profile masts. Sounds like you want sort of a two-piece clamp-on ring, which would be specific to your mast profile.
Not sure, but I think Garhauer may have made some of these custom pieces in the past. If you can draw up what you want White Water Marine could also custom fabricate what you want. Cost in either case would be quite a bit more than a standard deck plate.
Usually you'll see them mounted to a deck since they should probably be bolted into a backing plate. When you connect multiple blocks to the collar there could be a lot of force in various directions. With most masts being aluminum it's tough to get the strength you need... so, collars are mounted to the cabintop. If you have backing plates on your deck you could just attach spring mounted blocks directly to the deck... might be cheaper than getting a custom made mast collar. Rigrite also makes collars (deck mounted) - Deck Collars / Mast Collars
