FWIW, after replacing a Jabsco macerator twice over the years in my sailboat, I switched to Shurflo with the understanding that it has a longer run-dry time. That was several years ago. So far, so good.
I also use a Jabsco macerator in my powerboat to pump out the fish boxes and have had to replace it about every 5 years when it started blowing fuses or refused to run. I attribute that to the run-dry issue, as the pump has to self-prime for several seconds before pulling water through. I had been stuck with Jabsco replacements because I could not remove the hoses from the pump bell and therefore had a compatibility issue with replacing just the motor/pump and attaching it to the original 1990 bell.
You can understand why I am not a fan of Jabsco macerators.
