Place to visit live

May daughter lives in Guatemala City. My wife and I are thinking of retiring soon. We would like to be within commute range of our grandson. There is no way we could live in Guatemala city however. First of all we like the water and second don't want to live in a city.

I am thinking I would like to teach sailing. I have my USCG and ASA papers and should get some experience this year. Where would be a good place for us. My wife would like to teach Tai Chi.

In a couple weeks my wife is going to visit our daughter and on the way check out the Red Frog at Bocas Del Toro in Panama.

We are not wealthy so that is a consideration too. We did check out the Rio Dulse but there is no sailing there, just places to park your boat and it is a 10 hour drive to the city. It didn't look right for us.

What other locations would your recommend in general.

For this trip besides the Red Frog any place she should check out in Panama?

It is a possible option too.

Re: Place to visit live

Dave, That's a pretty big jump from Madison, Wisconsin to Panama. Keep in mind that if your daughter and husband are relatively young, they may be moving around during those early years of marriage, just as many couples in this part of the world do in order to keep pace with their employment situations. It's not at all unusual. Under these circumstances, you may be better off living aboard. That would allow you to relocate whenever the need arises.

All the best,

Gary

Actually it is Madison, CT but your point is still valid.

Living aboard is not out of the question but it is not something I'm all gung-ho about.
