mast steps

Hi; I'm about to install steps on the mast; it's a kenyon mast with a seam on each side. Anyone have any experience with this? Should I drill the holes away from the seam? this would give me a little offset, as the mast curves in at the front. Also I'm tapping and using stainless steel screws; I've heard locktite will help prevent electrolysis; is there any special purpose thread compound that might work better? thanks Eric

I don't think you would have a problem drilling and tapping on the seam.
Locktite is good for preventing corrosion but there is a new product which is a combo of tef-gel and locktite that I've heard good things about.
