Motor choice for sirius 21'

From a previous post, I passed on the oday 23 with the two piece mast modification. It just seemed liked it would be inviting trouble.

Instead I bought a sirius 21, which was in much better shape, but did not have a motor. It does have a motor bracket on the transom. Because of that I think I can go with a "regular" shaft outboard as oppose to the long shaft. Just thought I would check in with folks here to see if there were any Sirius owner or anyone else with an opinion. Thanks Chris

Nope get a long shaft. Then the prop stays in the water [ mostly ] if there is some sea running.

I don't know about the physiology of the Sirius 21, but I don't think a shorter shaft is necessarilly out of question. A few questions to answer before you dismiss the shorty. How low to the water is your transom? Would a short shaft sit deep with the bracket down? Will you be able to get the prop out of the water with a long shaft? Can you reach the controls? Be sure to consider the water intake.
