SailNet sure has changed

Granted, it's been a few years since I logged in here - just checking in out of curiosity mostly. I can see many nice improvements to the site and offer congrats to the owners for an apparent fine job of streamlining what originally was a somewhat archaic, but functional forum for networking sailors.

Wish the ad banners and popups would disappear, but I do understand the need for revenue and profits.

As my profile displays, we sold the Nauticat a while back, but still manage to get out there regularly on smaller vessels. Who knows . . . we may move on up again. Best wishes to the old guard - if they're still lurking. ;-)

Welcome back. Not much has really changed around here.

I don't suffer from pop-ups. Maybe it's a setting in your browser?

I do get personalized banner ads...why do they think I need viagra and an extension?

Re: SailNet sure has changed

Hey guys!

Still sailing, but in a small day-sailer now off our closely backyard beach, coastal sea kayaking mostly, scuba diving occasionally, architecting for supplemental income, and continuously loving my extended family for major enjoyment.

I never went back to the dark side of power boating - love sailing too much to submit to that excuse when old age creeps up on us all. I'm still healthy, strong and happy with life.

How're you all doing?

Do a search for Adblock. It's free and versions are available for most browsers. It works well.

Stopped the pop-ups by resetting McAfee. Tolerable now. Thanks for the advice Sailormon6.

Re: SailNet sure has changed

Too bad my photo albums have disappeared from the gallery. They brought back memories of some very happy times on the water in our last boat.

Where's sailingdog and all the others from our past - who don't seem to have kept up by posting recently? I guess boating tends to be a time-regulated sport. As we move on in life, various factors change priorities with our previous obsessions.

Re: SailNet sure has changed

Sailing Dog moved on some time ago, some members went to Anything Sailing, but many came back.. others seem to have faded away. Shame about your galleries, the rollover to new owners and new look did have some collateral damage.
