It's been discussed a bit before, but here's an updated article on the project:

Seven years in. Folks worldwide stopping in to help. Casts and machines his own feathering props, for criminy's sake!
and ya really think he won't finish and launch?
Really?

He's an inspiration to all DIYers....of any stripe .He has perseverance, innovation, mad skilz, and an attitude that anything is possible.
Look at the average total refit here and find 3 to 5 years is minumum; so seven years part-time for a complete build, ground up, self-fabb'd???
Amazing!
I fully expect he'll get in the water by late 16 early '17, barring unfortunate circumstances..

I've been watching since he attached to pieces together for the hull.

He'll get there someday.

Yup, he is a cool guy with crazy skills..

Before this project, he was actually building a submarine (yes seriously). He didn't quite finish the sub, but he did make some test runs with it.

Very inspirational.

Re: SV Seeker - 74' DIY sailboat

I know a guy that took 25 years to build how own boat. He launched it a couple of years back. Almost immediately pulled it back out for "modifications".

These guys rarely ever really sail the thing.

I also wonder how he plans to transport it to the shore and launch it.

It's hard to imagine that someone with his skill and resources hasn't thought of that himself.

He's got a trailer and a tow hitch for his prius.
