Re: License question for hams with SSB

I hope I'm around when the Spacex Starlink constellation comes on line. If it works as claimed, it'll replace the sat com systems we are forced to cope with now. I've heard some of the other sat operators are calling it: "The Death Star."

The Coast Guard keeps watch on the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) SSB-HF frequencies 4125, 6215, 8291 and 12,290 kHz in place of the old international radiotelephone distress frequency 2182 kHz.

Re: License question for hams with SSB

Hi Donna. Have Internet for the moment by apologies if no reply. So 4 and 12 are monitored intermittently. DSC calls 24/7. Got that page when I put in the 802 but didnít link to safety alert page and channels are in presets and it was the same back then. Of interest the safety alert page points out the limitations of satellite phones.

Re: License question for hams with SSB

Got those pages when put in the 802. Seems 4 and 12 arenít 24/7. Seems dsc is better. Just read like to safety alert pointing out limitations of satphone.
Still wonder if anyone else then USCG monitors.
