2nd Hand Yacht Swindlerys in New England

I am restoring an old boat and I am thus in need of some old stuff.

There is a salvage place just outside of Portland, ME which has a reasonable selection of stuff in various states of repair and with equally random prices. There was one in Rockland, ME but he unfortunately went out of business.

Anyone know of anymore?

I thought maybe it had something to do with the OP getting a bad deal on a used boat, but in context I agree that maybe "Chandlery" would be the correct term, and swindling is much more common for *new* gear at them places!

I'm confused. Are you looking for good price's on used boat parts or are you looking for someone who would swindle you on pricing? I.E. rip you off.

Would you like me to sell you a windvane for your bow?

ooh, good point!

What are the nautical equivalents of muffler bearings and blinker fluid?

And I thought the whole point of owning a boat was to rid oneself of money, so what's the problem, or did I get it wrong?

I thought this was a thread about yacht brokers.

Yes, but some like to do it a bit slower than others. Not a matter of if you spend all your money, more a matter of how much broken junk you can get for it. As it is all valueless quickly after purchase, and none of it lasts very long on the open sea!

Re: 2nd Hand Yacht Swindlerys in New England

After 8 posts to my question I'm still non the wiser to any swindlerys, chandleries, boat salvage stores or anything else. I guess the old adage "ask a silly question, get a silly answer" has just come into play.

Has anybody got anything constructive to add or just jokes and jibes as bad as mine?
