We are getting the same front coming a bit later to the Belize area. Squalls and thunder showers but the system is forecast to move fairly quickly so a day of squalls and then back to the normal hot and humid days. Sure like this area better than the eastern side but the eastern side has a dryer climate which is more comfortable and we miss that.

Re: Why go out into this *crap*?

A wise person once told me that he would rather be in harbor, wishing he was at sea than being at sea, wishing that he was in harbor. That always stuck with me.

banjoflyer - that is one of the best sailing sayings that I've ever heard!

The saying sounds like it came from flying..."I'd rather be sitting down here wishing I was up there than sitting up there wishing I was down here"

Re: Why go out into this *crap*?

If I only sailed in 10-12kt winds I would rarely get to sail. 20kt is about average around here. Of course, I can swim across the lake I sail in so there's that. On the other hand, it's never a steady 20kt. It's usually 15k gusting to 30 or something like that.

Another good flying quote " To make houses small, pull back....to make houses big, pull back further!

I still like the saying "A spin is a stable mode of flight, but unsuitable for landing". After years of doing aerobatics in gliders I transitioned to power and learned how scary a spin a Cessna 152 really is!

This was my third time visiting here. We anchored on the east side of the Grotto and snorkeled that side since the west winds made the main entrance area pretty rough. Entered through the back east entrance and had the place all to my self. Moved the boat up to the anchorage between Big Majors Spot and Little Majors for the night. Waiting for a cold front from Florida to sweep through the area. Could be an interesting night with squalls and thunderstorms.
