Thanks for the clarification. My only concern was that a response of "Oh...her!" from brokers is not necessarily a good sign. If you have face-to-face experience that she has a good reputation with both buyers and sellers, that's very valuable.

I can highly recommend Robert Noyce, 410-703-5380 - he walks you through the survey, explains everything well in a voice fit for radio, and may be one of the most technically proficient people I've met in the marine industry. Good luck and I hope your survey goes well!

Re: Need surveyor recommendation: Annapolis/Deale areas

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I called almost every one of them. A few didn't call back. The ones that did provided very nice, helpful conversations. There were a couple whom I REALLY wanted to hire (especially Skord and Noyce, plus some others), but are booked through my timing window or no longer do pre-purchase surveys (focusing on insurance claims instead). These guys all know each other, so I was able to get good candid comments on everyone's special strengths as well as recommendations on personality styles that would/would not be compatible with my needs. (Most important here is someone who would take the time to "chat up" what he's doing instead of considering me to be a nuisance.)

The person whom I have retained is not one mentioned here, but someone who was recommended by a couple people that you mentioned. I will not disclose the identity yet, because I don't want to get backed into a corner where I have to publicly state any dissatisfaction with him. If I'm happy afterwards, I'll let you guys know who he is publicly. If I'm less than happy, my comments will be private.

Best of luck with the survey. It's always nice to hear of a boat going to someone who I'm sure will take good care of her.

Re: Need surveyor recommendation: Annapolis/Deale areas

I am now under contract and have a surveyor also. I tried another that was recommended and ran into the same problem where he said he can take a look in three to four weeks. He recommended another guy not listed in this thread. Same deal, I'll see how it goes before naming names. He did match the original guys price at $15/ft though, so I'm pleased with that.

Congratulations !

Fingers crossed that all goes well on the survey.
