I'm in the camp of = Buy cheap, fix yourself and if you do it right you get some or most of your money back when you sell. No living to be made, just low cost sailing. Even so, I can see situations where a good buyer-fixer still gets stuck with an old sailboat and the storage costs eat away at his wallet til he is willing to give it away.
