Talking Anyone know what kind of Dinghy this is?

I have just acquired this fiberglass/ wood rowing/sailing dinghy but for the life of me I can't figure out who originally made it. It is commercially made since there is a serial number on it. I have ruled out Minto. The OAL is 7'9" and the beam 4'. Thank you for you help.

Possibly a Galleon 8 or a Bosun 8.. You say it has a number on it, the first 3 letters of that HIN will be helpful.

Huh... Ordinarily there are only three leading letters that identify the builder. VBW comes up Vintage Boat Works, but their site shows a restoration outfit.. QMM came up as a machine works company.

However these manufacturers' numbers do get reassigned and the last two numbers make the boat a '77 model, likely the builder is no longer around.

Edit to add... Vintage operated 2004-2006; Mulgrave machine works didn't start up til '87

Re: Anyone know what kind of Dinghy this is?

Could have been made before the standardization of serial numbers. Just has to be before Nov 1972 and the maker could have numbered it any way they wanted.
(or not made in USA... then all bets are off)

That of course complicates any attempt to look up who made this particular hull and when it was made. (aside from pointing to it being made before 1973)
