what is it and where do i get some more?

along the inside edge of my companionway hatch is a u-shaped, rubber or vinyl covered metal strip that finishes off the rough fibreglass edge of the molded deck shell. the u is 1/2" deep and the strip covers the edge inside all the way around the hatch, inside the hatch door and sliding hatch cover. total length of strip is 12'. it pretty ratty and i'd like to replace it, but i don't know what the stuff is called nor where to get new material. the closest thing i know of is those strips you tack onto the edges of your car doors to minimize paint chipping when you bang the edge of the door against something hard when exiting. anybody know where i can get some new?

Wow that looks almost exactly like what I was looking for. Would that stuff be sufficient to replace my rubrail? Also, is there anywhere else to buy that stuff...the problem with this website is that they only sell it in large quantities...what if someone just needs 50 feet or so?

If you are looking for rubrail, you might try Barbour Corp. They make some very nice PVC extrusions that are specifically for that use.
