Re: Month 6 cruising costs

I thought the Americans got rid of Prohibition a few years ago?
What's the anti-alcohol thing going on?
Why are there value judgements invoked on peoples personal choice?

Don put his months spending up. That's a hell of a lot more that other people do. We can use his figure to help us plan... but not judge!

Re: Month 6 cruising costs

Food, liquids and booze is a firm category by itself.
I wouldn't include clothing in there, and dunno what all sundries contain. Don't mix toothpaste and deodorant with booze...

Clothing and sundries might be Clothing and Personal Stuff

Marinas and restaurants are large costs, as you've showing.

$42 in bank fees is a decent dinner out. Maybe work out of a bigger in-pocket/onboard money stash and fewer transactions...

Thanks for posting.
It's interesting.

If they don't accept american dollars, then the exchange rates get you the same way as a cc...

That was one American. Don't stereotype. Applies to lots of stuff.

In the harsh marine environment, something is always in need of repair. Margaritas fix everything.

I put a spray bottle next to every faucet, have a solar warter bag on deck with the nozzlel through the head window and the water pump OFF.

You retanking every 3 weeks will go to 6 weeks.
I just chartered a boat with a salt water faucet on an electric pressure pump. That was nice! No rationing. Rinse your plates and hands at will, wash your dishes and then do a minor freshwater rinse.

You can make electricity less expensively than making fresh water.

Yes, putting an electric pump on the salt water faucet was a huge water saver. I was then spray with the spray bottle.

A couple of extra portions of detergent needed.

We put on a E80 a few years ago - 3.5 gal/hour and pulls about 8 amps which we have 500w of solar so no problem with power - in the Carib we ran it about an hour our two everyday and had plenty of water - cost was about 4,600usd -

for us it made great sense as in parts of the world we did not want to drink the local water - just made our own - and we did not have to stop or work to find water or make long sails to find water - we even provided water to other cruisers who ran out and had to go on a long sail to get some while we just sat and enjoyed another day in the sun

Just our thoughts and opinion
