Re: Rimas is alive and made it to guam

The red arrow is his last known Delorme position. The wind was ESE. How did he get in there without wrecking on a reef. What was his route out ? We can ignore his claim to have a broken rudder I think.

Bear in mind that he has not demonstrated any ability to sail up wind and even beam reaching is unlikely.

Rimas is leading me to believe that I'm taking learning to sail much too seriously.

First I have heard of him. The biggest sign of balls on this guy is his subtitle he put on his boat.

"The Expedition Sailing Alone Around The World Nonstop!"

The cost of his rescues should be paid for anyone who gives him assistance to set off again.

If we believe that he is really heading to Japan, as he claims...he's lucky too, that he was rescued before this weather system came -"The Big Dark"

"In a satellite image tweeted out by the weather service on Monday, a series of weather systems can be seen spread out from China all the way across the ocean to British Columbia."

I know, the Texas reef thing almost seems like a hoax.If he kept a perfect course, he did 40 miles every day.

Re: Rimas is alive and made it to guam

Remas reminds me of the child who will stop sticking the pencil up their nose, if you stop paying attention. I think the audience is being at least partially duped here.

I wish him no ill will. The attention is either encouraging him to risk his life or playing into the dupe or a little of both.

It got me thinking about the USCGs ability to condemn a boat, recognizing that it needed to be towed into shore and won't likely depart in any better condition. Not sure exactly what grounds they must have, but I suspect they would be reluctant to get too involved. If he leaves Guam, I'm betting they consider that a win.
