Another poster mentioned my old mate Jeff Heartjoy who single handed a Baba 40 round the world a short time ago.
It was interesting to follow Jeff as he had to fix many systems while underway. I think the winner in this race will be the guy who will be able to keep a "NON" CE rated boat going...
Having just read RKJ's book A World of My Own, I would have to say that the winner of GG18 better be good at fixing everything. It's really amazing that Sir Robin was able to make it given all he had to contend with.

Just finished it myself. When he was out of solder he repaired his radio by breaking navigation light bulbs and using the scraps of solder he got from them to re-solder a connection. He was very ingenious and resourceful with his repairs.
