Crossing Lake Superior, June 2017.
No pictures from the bad fog.... there was nothing to see. Coming out of Rock Harbor the fog was variable, but at one point I couldn't barely see the bow pulpit (on a 25ft boat)
Tied to the wall at Grand Marais, waiting for the fog to lift enough that we could see the breakwater, and make a run for the southern shore.
These photos were shot during the crossing from Grand Marais to the Apostle Islands.
A long shot as the fog started to break up.
Then the auto pilots tried to crash us together. 40nm from anything else, but they still tried.
We were watching of course, trying to not take the helm from the auto pilots, but had to fix half a boat length worth of distance.
It was an amazing trip.
But cold water and warm air give very regular results!
