Why do you want a screen with it?
Its difficult to see much on such a small screen. But connected to a laptop....

The ship icons show up well on those small screens. When it's necessary the laptop comes on with the same data overlayed on an electronic chart. Best of both worlds I think.

Re: AIS different brands any good??

yes
agree
have seen some YouTube by Patrick Laine (shame on me,but I like him)and one of the episodes he works in the cabin with one of this self contained units and looks very nice and clear,of course I also have a display on the bigger MFD as well as radar and tablets,is just a matter of redundancy.
But they are nice.
Prices have also dropped
thanks

Re: AIS different brands any good??

We have a stand alone Vespermarine AIS which often shows targets at a greater distance and before the same AIS targets show up on the Raymarine chart plotter. Checking with Vespermarine about the discrepancy, of course they claim their electronics are better, more sensitive, than the Raymarine. From my experience, I would believe what they claim. I could very well live with just the AIS on the Raymarine MFD (Multi Function Display) but I prefer to not have all the electronics linked to one failure point. There is no problem viewing the ship icons on the Vespermarine. There are plenty of ranges to choose from for best viewing. I have no information on the Icom but here is a video, part of which, will show some use of the Vesper....and Raymarine
