So now I keep 6 boats

After sailing my Aloha 8.2 for 15 years something shorted out in my brain and now I also have a Code 40, a Cygnus 20, a Matilda 20, a PY 23 and today's acquisition, my first wooden gaffer, an MB(?)19.5.
The only one on the hard is the Aloha

Is normal? Healthy?

Re: So now I keep 6 boats

My name is Floater and I'm a sailboat-aholic.

I don't see a problem with it, I'm actually jealous. I would like to see how you rationalize 6 boats in a similar size range so I can try it on my wife.

Re: So now I keep 6 boats

I like to to mix and match
CF sliding seat rowboat that converts into a Gunter with leeboards.
Square back canoe that converts into a motorboat
Cruising sailboat that carries enough diesel to get you to the Caribbean with no wind
Kayak that will serve as a duck boat or fly fishing platform
But I own none of those stupid pants that convert into shorts.

Perfectly healthy and normal. I like having the right boat for the job.

I have my gaff cat rigged sharpie for cruising, my beach cat for racing, 8' sailing dinghy for kids to learn on, building a lug rigged skiff plus canoe, kayak and jon boat.

Planning on selling the kayak and jon boat to buy more wood for the skiff.

Definitely not healthy. You need a seventh:

I don't believe that ad is correct. I suspect that they think that is a Rhodes designed Chesapeake 32, but that actually looks like a Grampian Classic 31, which was a Peter Van Dyne design and which was a nicer sailing boat than the Chesapeake, but not as nicely finished. That would be a nice boat for a person who was into CCA style boats.

I assumed it was an Annapolis 30. I'd go get it, but I don't need two sailboats. Or do I?

Willy,

Thank you for pointing that out. I am not familiar with the Annapolis 30, but from her numbers she seems like a nicer design than some of the similar sized Rhodes of that era.

As far as needing a second boat, you probably don't need one, but if you decided that you wanted a bigger boat, and wanted a CCA era design, this does not look like a bad choice.

Regards,
Jeff

This is the unhealthy part. You have 5 boats in the water? Do you own your own dock or mooring balls? What does moorage for 5 boats run?
