Ultimate mooring attachment

I've been trying to imagine a way to attach a mooring pennant or possibly anchor rode to a sailboat that would be seriously secure.

The typical way with deck mounted cleats is just asking for trouble.

I saw a Bene 32S5 on a mooring with very good pennants bounce up and down about five feet in the waves. This boat has a small overhanging cast aluminum fitting at the bow to hold two anchor chain rollers.

The mooring had two pennants. They were not run over the chain rollers but directly to the cleats and well protected with chafing gear. The boat pitched so much that a pennant caught the chain roller fitting and snapped it off. The jagged fitting cut the pennant.

I'm trying to figure out how the boat could have been secured to prevent this.

The lesson from the Icarus story is not about human failing.
It is a lesson about the limitations of wax as an adhesive.
If you have an engineering problem solve it.
