Re: 2' of snow

Yesterday's temp here was -9 with a "feels like temp of -24." My guess is the lakes will be frozen here till mid June. Here is two days worth of snow. Looking forward to sailing in LaPaz in April.

Re: 2' of snow

Not too bad here on the Isle of Long. 28 degrees F sunny and no snow. May get an inch or two in a few days before turning to rain. Spending my time thinking about a possible Train/Road trip to the Keys in April. Booking a charter in the Exumas in May and making a list of items in anticipation of the Defender Marine warehouse sale.

Re: 2' of snow

Just finished cleaning up the latest round. There pics are from just out my front door. I'm very happy my snow shovel is diesel powered!

Heading north to the Miami Boat Show this weekend.

Fingers crossed we don't hit snow going north

Minnesail, sorry that your SOC plans fell through and we won't be able to meet up int La Paz. Perhaps next year. I'll hoist a Tequila in your honor next month in Loreto.

Re: 2' of snow

We have had no shortage of snow and cold this season 215 cm has fallen so far (7 feet), with an additional possible 50 cm (2 feet) falling tonight. Kids school is closed tomorrow.

My off season has really just started. I havent sailed my Bay Hen since August, but managed to keep my smaller car toppers going until after Christmas, and then I was off to the Carribean for a couple weeks.

But yes, I have projects on the go. I am building up my sailing kayak into something that can eat up some miles. I still need;

A Rudder system, I have been steering with my retractable skeg which can get a little old,
I need to buy a bunch of stuff to complete the Kayaking side of the boat; carbon fibre paddle, new spray skirt etc.
Need to come up with a nav light system, thinking battery operated LEDs
Would like a new nav system. Havent decided between dedicated deck mount chart plotter or some kind of cell phone or tablet build
Think I might get myself a hammock tent too, so I can sleep even on heavily forested shorelines or mangroves.

Needless to say I am spending lots of time on classified ads trying to get some of that gear cheap.

Heres a pic of my boat, another 2 feet should have her buried close to the gunwales.

Re: 2' of snow

this is a little depressing.... I had tried to build a 'tent' for my DC15 (maybe I will take a picture next weekend)

but never got it....and we have had more than 8 feet of snow 100 inches albeit some has settled and a lot has melted

and with about a foot on the way tonight...

LUCKY!

We hardly got any all through January, it was quite depressing. February is finally bringing some joy, we've 22" so far this month. Hoping for more.
