Yeah ok. I kinda assumed OP meant through 2018. With the 17% for YTD 2019 it's and average of 9.9%/year. Bit higher than historic average.

But yes I do agree that it would be dangerous to assume that you'll do a 3 year cruise and only spend a few thousand because your assets will increase 10%/year. I only use the ~7% average when looking at 10-15+ year timescales. Personally if I were to do a $100k cruise, I would assume it would cost $100k..

We're in agreement here.

Re: 2.5 Years of Cruising Assets Cost

When I did my cruising financial planning I assumed a 3% ROI and sometimes when I came home from a crappy work day would change it to 0% to gauge my comfort level.

I'm just sharing my REAL results. I advise everyone to make their own decisions based on personal research/advise.

I know but have been listening to the radio lately and the fast low talk at the end of commercials is starting to affect me.

I did. It was a short siege and it's still there and I'm not. Turned out there wasn't really anything to rape and pillage so I moved on.

I think you misunderstand. It is worth the trip I feel. I've seen LOTS of the east coast forts so the fort isn't as interesting to me as to others. BUT the water in area is super. Probably clearer than the Bahamas and if you like to snorkel it is a great place.

It isn't really all that far out of the way in the big picture

Thanks for that Insite Don.
Very interesting.

Would you mind fleshing out some details?

For many people, health insurance is a big part of their budget. Did you drop health insurance?

Boat Insurance?

Boat Repairs?

The lesson from the Icarus story is not about human failing.
It is a lesson about the limitations of wax as an adhesive.
If you have an engineering problem solve it.
