Thread Topics

I was looking at thread views and found it "interesting" what threads/topics have a lot of views. I kind of assume views = interest, but assume new people have different interest in what type of threads they read over the "regulars".

So what type of thread (you reading this) are you interested in?

Re: Thread Topics

I'm most interested in threads about threads.

Re: Thread Topics

Most all except when somebody throws the polic card.
Threads about problems other people want to solve but do not directly pertain to me or my boat can...show light and trigger something.

A dedicated women, rum and gold sub form would be great, but...tis not here

Re: Thread Topics

More to the point, perhaps, would be topic headings. Postings on some topics sit there, unchanged, for weeks. (Racing? Cruising & sailing with children?) Consolidating topics would make the site more active. People who don't necessarily have children on board would see questions posted in a more generic topic heading and be able to contribute. As it is, they don't see the question because "sailing with children" is not what they do. "Views" come from people who may be trying to learn about a subject, rather than perhaps a "regular" who can opine based on his or her experience. The number of views does indicate the degree of interest by the whole community - not just the "cognoscenti".

Re: Thread Topics

I like topic in the subject box to be detailed and clear, not click-bait, or non-specific.

I like to know what I'm clicking on so it's not a waste of time.

And they'll turn it down for the cell they know

Re: Thread Topics

This... and many other forums seem to easily stray from strictly on topic discussions. Humor gets injected and tangents are common. Things like politics and culture get woven into the discussions such as guns on boats. Speaking for me only (obviously) I like the site for the information... and experiences of other sailors. I also share my own experiences admittedly limited. This site contains members with consider sailing wisdom. My hunch is that with good moderators this site has the right balance of on and off topic posts. Hard to sort out so many disparate themes. I wouldn't have a clue how to do it and probably the same reason why I can't find what I am looking for on my boat!

pay attention... someone's life depends on it

I like to read about others experiences when traveling or visiting different areas
Personal experiences and descriptions.
Many of the Chesapeake posters use the posts to visit new anchorages based on anotherís SN musings.

I donít like thread usurpers who need to change the original posters intent for their own agenda.

Re: Thread Topics

Often find the hijackings more interesting and informational. But whatever floats your boat. It all good.
What I donít like is the intrusion of political bias in threads that ask for a solution to a particular problem.
