Repainting Deck

I am considering using Tuff-Coat (Medium texture deck coating) to repaint an entire deck and cockpit of an older sailboat. Has anyone done this and what are the advantages/disadvantages? Thanks.

If it has a lot of texture, seems like it would be difficult to keep clean.

I re-did my deck last summer with Pettit EZ Poxy, semi-gloss white. It was very easy to work with, and the results were "acceptable." A skilled and experienced painter would probably have a smoother finish, but I'm happy with it, considering my budget and amount of free time.

I haven't done the non-skid areas yet but plan to use the same paint with Pettit's flattening agent added.

Just happened to watch BoatWorks YouTube channel last night, who claimed Alexseal and rubber sand is the best non-skid he's ever seen. You might want to check it out.

Like most projects, I think the outcome is 90% dependent on the preparation. It must be smooth and level or it will show.
