I appreciate the advice from you all. I have been assuming the best way to store the dinghy on a crossing is on the foredeck rather than on the davits. It looks like a 290 RIB will fit between the mast and the removable inner forestay, and definitely will if it is deflated. Do you concur that the foredeck is the best option vs davits?
Dink on davits is great.
Cos if you sink you can drop it in real quick. With a nice outboard on the back you can move the liferaft instead of it just drift. Important if you know where shipping lanes are, or you can see land.
A liferaft cannot easily get to land as currents parallel land.
But the stresses on the davits are larger.
