Hello from Texas!
Hey everyone! I joined SailNet a while ago but just now getting around to my introduction. I'm currently living in the Rockwall, Texas area and sail on Lake Ray Hubbard. I caught the sailing bug about two years ago at the age of 47. I had never sailed before so I decided to take a local beginners class. Immediately after that (against the advice of others) I bought my first boat. It was a 1973 Macgregor Venture of Newport. It was a fun little boat, but I wanted to move on to bigger and better things. I decided to take a combination coastal cruising and bareboat chartering class out of Galveston. Since then I've moved up to an 27 foot O'Day 272.
I'm now trying to figure out how I can move closer to the coast to gain more sailing experience. I think the ocean is calling me. Heading to Florida this summer to check out some areas. Starting in Tampa / St. Petersburg, then Sarasota, Ft. Myers, Ft. Lauderdale, and Melbourne.
Also looking to gain more experience. So if there are any sailors in the area that need an extra hand or can pass on valuable sailing experience let me know!
