Cool Novice Sailor

Just bought a Watkins 23, up to now I have owned two small day sailors. So with the this boat I am sure I have a lot to learn. I would really like to hear from anyone, but particularly from Watkins 23 owners.

Re: Novice Sailor

Hi Dale,
Thanks a bunch for the contact. I noticed that you're a "Senior Member" and I'm a junior. Kind of like the ensign talking to the admiral. I joined this site so that I could learn more about sailing. Now that I have been aboard for a few days I think I will join another site that will tell me how to navigate this one.

Smile Re: Novice Sailor

No doubt you right about the sea making all equals. As far as the kicking, I find that I have been kicking for quiet sometime as a landlubber. I did start out with a 6 year navy stint, but that was a long long time ago. I just purchased a 23 foot Watkins sloop the biggest boat I have had so far and at my age probably my last. I don't mind being the ensign if you don't mind being the admiral. While I know starboard from port I am not quiet ready for a transatlantic crossing. I would be more than thankful if you would pass on some of what I am sure is an abundance of knowledge about sailing. Thanks Wayne

Re: Novice Sailor

Sailing is easy:
If it flaps, pull on it until it stops.
Point the tiller at the thing scaring you.
Try to stay on the boat.

Enjoy
