Hello from Virginia!

Hello Sailnet! Absolutely looking forward to getting out on the water in the family 18' sailboat. My 3 year old is absolutely going to love Willoughby Spit with all the air traffic and ships.

Been sailing with my dad for quite a few years...started in a 14', moved to a 20something, then a 34' that we took around the southern portion of the Chesapeake Bay. I LOVED that boat. We did so much work on it, and that was half the fun. My dad sold it because the family was growing older and life happened...marriage, kids, serving in the Navy. Fun fact - if I stepped onto a sail boat just one time, I would have been on it longer than I have been on any Navy vessel.

Now I'm living close to my dad again, and we have a 18' day sailer called the James Cooper, the names of his two grandchildren - my two boys. She's a beautiful boat and a blast to sail. I have a lot to learn, and I'm afraid the bug bit long ago and it's only a matter of time until I get my own larger boat to work on with my wife and boys.

I look forward to absorbing the massive amount of knowledge and passion for sailing here at Sailnet, and it'd be great to make some new friends and meet a few of you - I know there are a great number here that sail the Chesapeake Bay.

We'll be in season soon, if you want to come out respond to this post again or PM me. We always have room for one more. This is a great sailing area.
