Talking Brand New to this Sailing world

Hello Everyone:

So I am brand new to sailing, my husband dragged me to see a sailboat around the 1st of October. He wanted to buy a sailboat. We spoke to a few people at the marina. They spoke about the amazing travels and weekends on their sailboats. Some spoke about trips to the Carribean. I signed my husband and myself up for a sailboat introduction class. It was really just the basic information of getting onto the sailboat and a short trip on the Hudson River.

I have since watched tons of the youtube Sailing episodes. We started looking and researching boats. We think we found one that is going to be ours soon. We plan on taking more lessons as soon as the lessons start up again. I think they start in April/May in our area. Then starting to learn on our own sailboat this summer. I did not see anyone who will give their free opinion of a sailboat in the Hudson Valley area of NY in the forum. I see the Albany area and Westchester. We are between the two.

We found a Pacer Ship 26/ PY26. The reviews of the boat seem decent. I have pictures and some video of us with the boat.

Thank you to anyone who read this far!
Alyssa

Welcome!

Contact Sal Paradise... he's up in the Bear Mountain area... and he's a terrific sailor and a very good chap. And he dragged me to see boats for sale up the Hudson.

Re: Brand New to this Sailing world

Welcome Alyssa to Sailnet and the sailing community, much luck
and enjoyment with your new boat to be.
Do not have much to add other than give a good look into the condition of the iron keel,
much will depend on the attention/maintenance given over the years.

When growing up was lucky to spend summers up your way and still have ties to area. (Washingtonville)
