Hi where are you sailing?
Thinking a good way to pour money into your boat is to take her out in deep water and heavy air.

I've got no problem with deep water, but after more than 5 decades of pretty much continually messin about on boats professionally and for pleasure, I think I'll pass on the heavy air unless absolutely necessary.
But you go ahead and enjoy yourself in that heavy air.

"Any idiot can make a boat go; it takes a sailor to stop one." Spike Africa aboard the schooner Wanderer in Sausalito, Ca. 1964.
“Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats.” ― Kenneth Grahame, The Wind in the Willows

Re: New old member

Thanks to all for the welcome. I,ve changed my User name to Col45Escape2.0 and will post and respond through that U/N.

Actually, I prefer deep water and no shipping lanes for peace of mind. Since there are only two of us, we shy away from heavy weather. The boat was fitted with a self tending 90% club footed jib which we have replaced with a 110% high cut Genoa. She still has a one reef Main but with the high freeboard and windage I'll drop all and go with the 4236 for control.

She needs a good deal of TLC since she's a one owner boat. The original owner bought her new in 1972 and when he passed away in 2000 his son kept the boat but was not a sailor. We've got all the original auto pilot, stove, and electronic manuals ( such as they were in '72). Have the original owners manual and warranty dated January 1972.

The engine was replaced in 1999 and runs strong.

Cosmetics on the topside and non skid is required.
