New and Lookin to Crew

Im 25, Currently reside in Tampa, FL. I'm looking to crew and pick up some sailing experience. I've spent time on the water, I've lived on a sailboat and comfortable on the water. No real bragable experience though. Im willing to travel anywhere, open to just about anything. Would prefer some amount of pay but very nagotioable.

Any advice would be great.

Welcome. Sailing crew is VERY hard to break in to these days. I did it for nearly 13 years and there is just no nearly as much money or work as there used to be. Which is why im getting ready to go back to school. My advice is for you to go to Ft. Lauderdale and get some crew certifications then join crew finders. Also walk down the docks and try to make some sailing friends. You would be surprised how many crew jobs I have gotten by simply asking if they needed crew but again it is a lot harder than it used to be. So what kind of experienced do you have? Bay sailing? Day sailing? Offshore? How handy are you on a boat? What can you fix or replace? Your best bet if you want to just get experience is to offer to do the first few for cost of transportation back home.

I have got some experience by sitting at the bar at a marina, and talking to sailors that are heading out. Sometimes they are looking for another crew member.
