Month 42 Expenses of Cruising and Living on the Boat

There is a tab page on the spreadsheet for “cost events” items that happened and resulted in higher costs each month along the way. Hint, they happen more often than you think!

Left Boot Key Marathon FL 2 weeks ago and am currently in West Bay Bahamas being safe from the coming zombie apocalypse with my fellow boat scum cruisers.

Did grocery, beer and supply runs as normal dollar wise even though there was big restock trip prior to leaving as a delay to spending Bahamas prices (already had the $147 spend for 2 cases of beer and 2 cases of coke).

Boat costs were a new BBQ grill, some new cabin fans, and a set of used Bahamas explorer charts (new never used :-)). Nothing broke and there was just the normal small cost “fix-it” items to deal with.

Fuel was gas for the dinghy and Honda and a propane refill.

Communications was cell phone plus reactivation of my inReach tracker and a deposit and charge for a Island Wifi hot spot device for in the Bahamas.

Fees were still low even with the $300 Bahamas cruising fee because I have a new card that paid me $150 free money for charging $500 the first 3 months, plus my normal cash back credit card “fee”.

Marina costs were $0 because the Bimini stay didn’t clear credit card this month and that’s how I keep track

Medical was just monthly plan premium.

The total expenses were $2,773.29. Cost breakdown as follows for planners and hecklers:

Food, soda, alcohol, clothing, sundries - $ 1271.97
Boat upgrades, repairs, maintenance - $ 587.70
Fuel (diesel, gas, propane) - $ 34.75
Dining and drinking out - $ 607.49
Entertainment - $ 71.97
Communication, storage, shipping - $ 270.58
Fees – $ 57.84
Marina - $ 0
Electric - $ 0
Medical - $ 58.70
Transportation and travel - $ 10.15
Gifts - $ 35
Water - $ 5
Registration - $ 0
Insurance - $ 0

People can say they want freedom, but offer them the keys to what chains them, a map to where they want to go,
And they'll turn it down for the cell they know

yes, it it is the west tip of New Providence Island

at the moment with 17 boats anchored here. 3 years ago when I was here there was just us + 1.

I just couldn't keep "fixing" the old BBQ
