Transient Moorings in CT

Hi All,

Soon to be going on my annual trip from NJ thru the sound to Block, etc. Usually stay on moorings, occasional anchor on Long Island side of sound. Want to do the Connecticut side, but there doesn't seem to be many transient moorings available. I know I can anchor, but my wife prefers moorings (launch rather than dink to shore) and I have to admit, I do sleep better on a mooring rather than anchor. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Scott

Re: Transient Moorings in CT

CT side seems to have more slips in marinas than moorings. However Dodson's in Stonington has transient moorings with launch service and is a great spot for the jump to Block or to hop into on the way back. As to marinas, I like Pilot's Point in Westbrook and the town marina in Milford.

I second Dotsons in Stonington
City Island has transient moorings
Greenwich
Norwalk

I am sure there are more. Look in ActivecCaptain

Try Essex up the Connecticut River
Mystic Marina's have transient moorings
Sag Harbor has transient moorings

Greenport has great slips cheap

Newport of course

Conn:
Greeneich

In the Sound , LI side:
Port Washington- free
Northport- Seymors
Port Jefferson- Setaucket Yacht Club

All have moorings

We travel from the Chessie up the NJ coast a lot to the LI Sound and Newport etc.

On CT side...

Thimbles
Stonnington

We anchor and prefer it to paying... We have a dink with an OB so we don't have to wait for a launch to arrive.

More mooring the further east you get. Essex, Hamburg Cove, Mystic River is loaded with Transient moorings, Stonington, Watch Hill and the Pawcatuck River.

You can use my mooring in Noank if you draw 5 1/2 or less. 6 ft if it's not a low low tide or you don't mind touching the mud. Noank is a rockin New England villiage, I heard they got the internets and the MTV now.
